Honoring the legends gone...

The Savage does a very good job of paying homage to the old English thumpers. Especially with some of the modern trinkets pulled.

I'm thinking of doing mine up (again, as it is trashed from sitting up). Would love to combine the vintage thumper flavor with the customizing of Indian Larry, Big Daddy Roth, Von Dutch, etc. I've been building by Larry's school of thought for almost 20 years. The other old time guys, I'm a bit lost. David Mann drawings and old Easyrider or Street Chopper black and white photos only go so far.

If any of you folks have late 50s to late 70s color photos of choppers/bobbers, from any part of the world, please e-mail them to me. My wife and I want the Savage to reflect on the lives and careers of the customizers, artists, photographers and writers that kept biking alive during its dark days. And those whose work has allowed me to kkep my fingers in the pie as it were while recuperating from a bad injury.

Thank you. Ride safe.

I actually built 1 Captain America bike. When I was part of the crew developing the Panzer Motorcycle Works line. Not exactly what I'm into these days.

I have tons of black and white photos of late 40s thru mid-70s customs. What I need is color photos. I'm not much on the current tribal or flame styles. I'd love to get my hands on some pics of bikes striped by Von Dutch, designed by Roth, built by Denver Mullins, or ridden by the 'Berdoo Angels. Real working man's customs. HD, Indian, Brit, 4 banger Japanese, etc. Classic stuff, not the cookie cutter, cheesecake, psuedo-old-skool crap that is marketed today. WCC and OCC? Visual VD?

I caught alot of flak on Bert's site for posting an Indian Larry obituary piece. If it wasn't for him, Dutch, Sonny Barger, and a few friends of my folks, I'd have never gotten into bikes, or started building real customs when I was 15.  I wish I still had all the old mags that had their work init, but I don't. I can't be the only "former" outlaw here.

Whoa WD ... you're actually an ex-1%'er, now Savage enthusiast?! Gotta admit, that's unique ... and unique is what ownin' a Savage is all about.
Believe it or not, there are no outlaw Bike clubs here in Newfoundland ... a few Ridin' Clubs, but no H.A., Outlaws or Bandito's ... guess they're not tough enough to ride in our climate Wink

EHHHHHHHH..........THE FONZ.............

I am sure that later on in his MAKE-BELIEVE LIFE that he saw the error of his ways and traded in his little twin cylinder 500  trumpet for a GOLD STAR or a MANX.......something a REAL MAN would ride.

Actually, I read that the Fonz admitted that he really could not ride and was scared of the brief stunts that went along with his role playing.  But hey, it's about the image  Tongue
