Greg_650 runs without also and I think he's welded the mounts up so yo can't tell it was ever there.

I ground them smooth and bondoed the whole thing.  What belt guard?  All that is left is the little tab for the belt tension gage.

As for debris in the pulley...you need to check the posts on installing rear mudflaps.

And Clive - Congrats on your recent promotion to God.

No problems to report in the rain or when its dry with belt guards removed.  I don't ever ride on anything but paved roads though so I wouldn't be able to tell you how it is if you have to drive on a gravel road.

Stop using WD40 as a penetrating fluid. It's crap. Do yourself a favour and buy a quality dedicated penetrating oil and you won't have to wait days for results, more like minutes or hours. The best thing about WD40 is its ability to remove moisture from electrical connections. It claims to have a myriad of applications but does none of them well.

AMEN!!!

You want a GOOD penetrating oil? CRC, Liquid Wrench, and GMC heat stove lubricant. The rest are a joke.
