Has anyone fitted a bigger piston or know where to get one.
Thanks in advance

In 4 1/2 years, I haven't heard of anyone installing an overbore kit in the Savage.  I know they exist, but no one has mentioned it.

A kawasaki Nomad piston is a 2mm oversize for the KLX, both J.E.Pistons and Wiseco do a 3mm oversize for SR/XT 500's.

The DR600S piston might work on the Savage, I think it's 95.5 so 96 would be possible, need to check gudgeon pin diam.

The DR600 has a bigger bore and a shorter stroke than the Savage.

What bore is the DR600, would it be suitable as a big bore for the Savage.

How about more compression instead of cubes?  I'm sure taking the 8.5 (2005) to around 10 would give more boost and still use pump gas.

More compression would be good...either from a bigger piston or from smaller combustion area (same difference).

How do we do it?

Send a piston to Wiseco and ask for them to either check their stock or make a one off piston that is oversize.

Probably be around $100 for a forged piston capable of withstanding 100hp.  You can also have them create it such that the compression ratio is increased with the same valve clearance.

You can also have forged rods custom made as well from Pauter...but I don't think any of us will need that unless someone is planning on hooking up a turbo/NO2/supercharger.

(There are other companies that will do the same but Wiseco and Pauter are the two I have had limited dealings with).
