There is a press release out now so I can talk about this thing.
https://www.yahoo.com/tech/history-made-us-military-conducts-212403960.html I watched it perform, (the data and monitoring - not the physical craft), on one sortie from the MOC at Edwards AFB back in September. AI flight is the future, it can perform flight maneuvers that would kill a human pilot.
I imagine it will be a hybrid for a while where the aircraft is piloted by AI, sensors run by AI, and the decision to fire is made by a human on the ground. Eventually the data will show humans can't decide as well as AI and that will go to automation as well.
Or an adversarial unit from Russia or China will go to AI fire-control forcing the US to do the same. Either way, these things will be doing stuff humans could never do within the next year or two.
