Proud owner of a '97 Savage, brought yesterday. Not running.  Question: Can I pull the can chain and cyl head in the frame or do I need to drop the engine?

you can take the head cover and intern the cam chain, but not the head w/out some gymnastics.

Unless you have a real reason to pop the head off,, I wouldnt,,

Whats the story on the bike? YOu sure its cam chain time?
