Nice specimen of a bygone era. If I recall, this was the bad boy everyone modified for the rough scrambles contests popular in the southwest.

here is an old BSA 500cc twin scrambler,with yours truly aboard, no I did not win that day,it was only my second scramble,I prefered trials.

Ahhh, but you participated!!! Regrettably, I never even got to see a race. This was the "holy grail" to a teenager in rural Missouri, but I never could talk the folks into going! Too far and too costly! Eventually motocross came to the local fairs but it wasn't the same. (There were no mounds like that on the floodplains of the Missouri River, but we sure could relate to having to navigate natural obstacles like creekbeds!) We lived vicariously by those that made the trek and had to wait weeks for the polaroids to come back developed!
