Heat Wrap

I have heard exhaust wrap improves performance - keeping the exhaust gases hot.

Experiences anyone?

No....doesn't really help a bit.  Especially on the Savage that has a double wall header pipe.

Heat wrap does destroy the header over time - it holds moisture and will rust the pipe, and the pipe gets hotter and will eventually fall apart from thermal stress.

Header wrap is mostly a fashion statement.

The purpose of the exhaust is to expel heat , not hold it in. It has its place , in a roll on the shelf !

Dave said it's a fashion statement.  I say it's for people trying to hide ugly crapped out pipes.  Just say no to heat wrap for the reasons Dave and Ruttly shared.

the only good reason for heat wrap is to prevent burns.  Smiley

Nope....the 150/80 rear tire fixes the speedometer being off 5%.  Tongue
