The EBC organic brake pads are very good pads for the Savage....they are black in color. They last a long time, don't make a lot of dusty mess, and they are not prone to squealing....they are a big improvement over the stock pads.
The EBC pads that are orange in color are sintered metal and they don't seem to work very well on the Savage....the compound is a bit too hard and they just don't grab very well.
Those rusty things that ThumperPaul had on his bike.......that is not anything normal - that is some serious rust!
I had the orange ones, when they fell apart they were maybe a year old. They didn't have as much rust as Paul's, but did have some rust. Before they fell apart, the brake feel was terrible, big brake kit made a day and night difference.
Either way, I was about to hop on the bike to run some errand, as I noticed something suspicious on the ground, and upon closer inspection it was the brake pad.
