Ruttly, I had spinal meningitis when I was 7, spent 2 weeks in the hospital,  virtually no memory of it, unconscious 95% of the time, was not expected to survive, but if I did there would be serious handicaps.
Thats why I’m the way I am.

That’s why you’re a diehard Savage Brother ! Strange how something’s in childhood direct us to our adulthood passions. Neither father or brother ever influenced my direction in life , it just happened that way. It was the first mini bike at age 7 that was to blame , and growing up in the sixties , the hay day of motorcycle off roading ! I was also deadly ill as a child with pneumonia, several times. When I was in the hospital the room overlooked a busy Geary street in San Francisco  , a million cars  would go by  and never peak my interest , but the motorcycles seemed  so free to  go wherever/whenever.  Maybe that was my catalyst  , to start my burning fire of motorcycle passion !       Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Do you know where this years ride will be ?

Yes Ruttly ,

The 2024 ride was in "SD Surges" area.
The 2025 ride is "The Ozarks" , North-West Arkansas.

Our Savage Ride was there (Ozarks) for two years and it's a GREAT AREA for a small bike ride!    The ridding is such that a 250cc would be just as good as a 2500cc .   It's all laid-back putt-putt .    I was on a V7-II Guzzi and ridding double and except for one long up-hill climb I never needed more than 1/2 throttle.   My 25 HP 350cc Enfield ridding solo would be right at home in the area, 4th gear climbs up anything at 50-60mph.   I suspect our ride around Moab might be better on a smaller bike too , but I'm bringing the 650cc  one for the "Un-Known factor", at least the first year.   It's only 100 pounds more. Smiley

So Ruttly

We all load the bikes up for them long hauls !

To tell you the truth I would have trouble doing a ride in this state. My health is my first concern till I get better I’m laying low. I did do a 51 mile ride on the tracker today. Felt no stress in the chest while riding , maybe due to an abundance of air being taken in ! But the hip gave me my reality check for the day. That bike is jetted to perfection , not a burp , cough or a fart , just a big thumper that makes me smile. I’ll work on getting healthy , not ready to die just yet , I got bikes to build !     Cool

Next ride 101+ miles , I have a new short cut to all the m/c dealerships in Modesto , well most of them on Carpenter Road. All backroads along the river , bugs, bugs, bugs ! Have a few loops in hills to the west , mapped one and still haven’t run it yet. It will require at least 2 fill ups(small tank)and carry a can of fuel from the hardware store just in case it’s farther than expected. This time of year it’s nice & cool , but soon it will be 100+ , the norm !

Put that Honda back together , still same problem , a bad ground. This bike is a bit different  has a ground at battery and frame and all other grounds spider off  in different locations. Typical Japanese wiring so knowing that I took the entire harness off the bike and started ohm testing all the grounds connections , found 2 grounds that readings had 10 times the resistance of all the rest. Cut that nasty sticky 39 yr old tape off the harness a bit at a time till of course almost to the other end before I found it. Tiny brass crimp holding 5 wires together , 1 wire spiders off to the 2 with high resistance. Cut crimp out strip the 5 wires , slip a section of shrink tubing on the wire and solder the connection , slide shrink over soldered joint. Still have to wrap entire harness with fuzzy electrical tape and install it. Fuzzy tape is my favorite , looks great and is more flexible than black electrical tape. I also wire electric guitars so I’m kinda fussy about how things are wired. I’m tired I’ll wrap & install it tomorrow. See if I fixed it !
