DBM Earth friendly catch can with check valve

I found a cheap oil catch can that I can add a check valve to run negative crank case pressure.

This is similar in function to DBM home made one.

If the link doesn't work search "Cylinder Aluminum Oil Machine Tank Catch Can Reservoir Breather with Filter"

Also shown are the Umbrella Valves needed to modify the kit.
The ones I used are "Genuine James Gaskets" JGI-26856-89 Seal Unbrella Valve Rocker Cover

The Kit comes with 2 screw on intake baffles, 1 short, 1 long.
I used the short 1 incase I wanted to use the other as a cover.

Shown is the valve leaning on the long baffle.
And the installed modified baffle and valve.

The baffle requires and easy mod to add the valve.
I chucked it in a lathe and drilled a 3/16" hole in the center.
This cut thru 2 holes but the valve tail pulled thru no problem and looks retained well enough.

Then I polished the valve surface as there were a lot of burrs in the original surface.

All that's left is put it together.

The Kit has a dip stick, you can use it or replace it with a metric screw.  It's the same as the side cover screws.

Screw the baffle/valve assy in and add the medium hose adapter on the inlet side.
You can throw a scrubby in the can if you want, then I would add the other baffle to protect the valve.

The kit comes with a filter if you want to exhaust to atmosphere or you could add another medium hose adapter and add a hose to the stock air box.  The kit has a hose if you want to use that.

I plan on routing it to my air intake when I get a round 2it.

All in all, it's a bit heavy, I thought the can would be thin metal, but it's quite thick.  The valve works quite well, you can't suck thru it, but you can blow quite easily.

Wow!  I have that exact same catch can.  I never used it.  I also thought it was heavy, but it's good quality.  Probably could lighten it up pretty easy.  The wall thickness on the can is a lot more than necessary.  Just chuck it up and thin out the wall on the can.

You did a stellar job on the umbrella valve.  The seat has a lot more flow area than the Hayden.  Can't wait to hear how it works.  Are you planning to do a manometer test?

Pretty cool Versy.  Cool

Thanks.

For less than $25 in materials I think it's great value too.
That Hayden was over $100 just for the valve.

There are some other kits that might be lighter for the same cost.
