EBay Windshield Problem
07/25/22 at 16:10:11
My new universal windshield didn't hold up well. The plastic handlebar clamps soon failed.

i have tried to salvage the situation by replacing part of the handlebar clamps with 1/8th aluminum strap. I also added a third mounting point on my risers.
It held up during my commute to work today. Hopefully, the problem won't return.

Well, you get what you pay for. Gots to be careful. I bought a Memphis Shades wind shield: Higher cost but the quality is there. (That clamp looks like it was installed 'under stress')

How does the Memphis Shade version attach to the bike?
After my recent experience, I don't think handlebar mounts alone will ever be enough.
I use a mirror mount windshield on my scooter. It has worked well for over 5 years with occasional bolt tightening.

My experience with handlebar mounted wind shields has been positive. The current M. Shades one is just large enough to direct the airflow over my head, so I can wear a cap with a brim. It has a two-point rubber cushioned mounting system, with adequate handlebar clamps. All kinds of adjustments, which can be confounding.

Yeah, trying to get everything symmetrical? Good luck.

Yep, I even changed handlebars, then said 'screw it' and left it alone.
