Weird noise

I have a 2009 S40 with 10,000 + miles. On a ride the other day I felt a sudden vibration on my right peg with a scraping sound. Lasted about 10 seconds. Then it vanished?

Normally, vibrations on the footpeg would indicate loose engine bolts.
But this came and went with a scraping noise.

Left side? Right side? At what speed? In what gear? Speeding up? Slowing down? How's that molar?

Were you accelerating or cruising or de-accelerating, leaning into a corner etc?  (I saw the right peg)  Probably wait til it happens again and make a further description.

Nothing comes to mind,... you're probably gonna' have to wait and see if it happens again.

Maybe just hit the perfect resonant harmonic of moving parts and speed?  Seems like your mileage is too low for a cam chain adjuster issue, but you did say right side.

I had come off a 20 mile highway ride was in a 45 mph zone and twisted off the throttle to ride past a utility truck beside the road. I may have just downshifted into 3rd.

45mph zone but how fast were you going in 3rd?  if im in 3rd and giving it the beans i get a harmonic sort of vibration in the foot pegs, kind of my queue that i will need to shift at some point.

Well good point. I probably downshifted to 3rd at the same time I got off the throttle. I am guessing I was somewhere around 35ish when it happened.
Next ride If it happens again I will be more aware. I will be tuned in for the next few rides, and hope it doesn't become a regular thing. It was ugly.

Rode a 40 mile highway loop this morning, didn't notice any vibration. Hopefully just a 1 time wonder. Smiley
