Brake master cylinder compability
07/02/22 at 11:36:02

I have an 1986 model that the brake master cylinder seems to have quit. No resistance from the brake handle and no front brake. Rears works.

Is the later 2000s brake cylinder usable on the early model? As they seem to be easy to find on eBay, etc.

Thanks!

For the most part yes.
the handlebar same diameter
master cylinder same diameter

what's different is the brake switch.
so you may have to adapt the wires to fit.
new models use spade fittings (but I think they're metric)

one other thing, the dragbar style had a shorter master with the hose mounted on the front, new style is mounted on the end.
don't know if that'll make a diff but you're forewarned.
