After about 400 miles or so I checked the catch can for oil accumulation. Nothing had accumulated in the catch can. That’s excellent. If oil is not accumulating in the catch can, then oil is not being carried through the breather system. I suspect that’s because it’s not exchanging air between the crankcase and induction system. Once it pulls the vacuum the air is sort of stagnant, it’s not moving back & forth so it can’t carry oil droplets. I like that.
Also, all the little weeps and seeps around my gasket joints, shafts, etc. have completely dried up. I like that too. Less dirt and grime accumulation. Housekeeping bonanza.
This YouTube video shows the drain down.

Although I wasn’t able to detect any improvement in performance or economy, the KrankVent did have some merit. It dried up all my little weeps & seeps. No more dust accumulation around gasket joints. No more seepage at the clutch release shaft. It also seemed to be doing a good job of preventing any accumulation of oil in the catch can. I’ve been monitoring oil consumption. It seems to have decreased but I haven’t logged enough miles to tell for sure. Since there is no adverse impact on performance or economy, I will leave the KrankVent in place.
The earth-friendly breather is also a keeper. It doesn’t hurt performance. I can do my little part to keep the environment a little cleaner.
I will continue to monitor the KrankVent and new breather system while I do the long-term test of the 94mm Wiseco flat-top piston. Maybe over the long haul I may see a slight improvement in my average fuel economy, or a definitive decrease in oil consumption. We shall see how it works out.
