It’s past time for Suzuki to rebrand/update the LS650 as a “Standard” vs cruiser, with fuel injection, new exhaust, upgrade the brakes, suspension,  and a new head with proper exhaust ports.
...and the cam chain tensioner.
Everything except for the head can be pulled from current parts on the shelf.  Torque and power will be comparable to the Enfield and BSA and still be air cooled and 100 lbs. lighter in weight.  Priced comparably, with MUCH improved performance, it could be competitive in this market.

Suzuki has a much better and greater dealer network from which to sell and service than the Companies from India, and a long history with this bike.

There will be no changes for the LS650. Any change will require recertification- which it won’t pass. The only change that the bike will get is non-production.

Emissions/carburetor!
This may seem strange, but Suzuki has in the past matched RE and BSA model for model. If they really wanted to compete now, they could do it without breaking a sweat. Marketing would put the kibosh on doing so!

The GR650 Tempter is a 650 twin, not the same as the overseas Tempter.

Better looking match for the RE 650s, BSA 650's ! Suzuki won't bring these 2 back.

Dude, it's a '650' twin, similar to a BSA Lightning/Thunderbolt, RE Int650/Continental Gt.
Suzuki had this market covered 20 years ago, and could easily do it now, but won't, because Suzuki Marketing is in hibernation and shows no sign of waking up!!!

The problem with the GR650 is they break starter gears and Suzuki doesn't manufacture parts for them.  They also stopped making parts for the last of their RM 2-strokes that they stopped making in 2008!!

There are guys out there putting 2-stroke engines in modern RMZ 4-stroke chassis because they want modern Suzuki 2-stroke.  Some of them are using Yamaha YZ250 because Yamaha still sells parts for their engines.

I believe a manufacturer is required by law to supply repair parts for a minimum of 10 years after the model production is terminated.  I believe 2019 was the last production year - so you have until 2029 to get stocked up on the parts you need.

Suzuki could extend the supply for longer - but on a low production bike it is likely they won't start a new production run of parts and will rely on whatever they have in stock.

As the bike ages some of the rubber parts will become stiff and need replacement.  You might want to stock up on carb parts that includes a needle/seat, a new TEV diaphragm, new bowl gasket,  drive belt, a gasket set, a rubber carb manifold and air cleaner tube, a cam chain and Verslagen head plug and tensioner.......and maybe watch eBay and buy a spare ignition module and voltage regulator.  I would expect aftermarket engine gasket sets will be around for a while - but it you want factory ones you likely should buy them.

As the bike becomes older and a lot of them are no longer running, it is likely the used part supply on eBay will be a good source of parts.

Suzuki Marketing would like you to buy a SV650.  They've learned from Kawasaki's W650/800 that nostalgia looks cool but doesn't sell. Royal Enfield has a captive market in India, and got lucky when the western world fell in love with their new affordable 650 twins.
W800s up here are discounted and still don't sell. Honda has a match for the Meteor 350 but probably won't bring it here.

Why?
Do you have an opinion on that?

I REALLY LIKE the looks of the Meteor 350 , its got all the right stuff except a few more cc's .   If Suzuki would make a 500 - 650 copy I'm sure they could sell at least one of them !  Wink
