Hello all. So as I was putting my exhaust back on, I noticed an oil leak from the front of the cylinder. It looks like it's leaking out the bottom of a nut surface. I posted a picture. Is this an easy fix. Can someone link a tutorial perhaps?

I agree with Badwolf....mostly.

However once I have applied the sealer I tighten the nut down with a wrench - and I tighten it pretty snug using one hand.  You are trying to duplicate a torque setting of 23-27 ft./lbs without using a torque wrench.

Hey dave, does applying rtv qualify as installing wet?

I think that letting the RTV start to cure and then tighten it down later makes sense on flat surfaces that are just going to squeeze tighter together - but on a rotating nut I believe the RTV will shear and roll around and the seal will be ruined.

On those nuts.....I put it on right out of the tube and torque it down.  That has always sealed the leak for me.

And yes the torque value is ft./lbs.  The stud is 8x1.25 and takes a 13mm wrench.....it holds the head and cylinder together and squeezes on the head gasket - it needs to be tight!
