Fork replacement compatibility question
09/14/21 at 09:51:51
i recently had an accident on my 08 ls650, and bent my forks but everything else is in tip shape, I’m wondering what the cross compatibility ranges are and seem to be having a hard time finding much information. Thanks in advance.

I haven't heard of anyone just swapping the tubes, and without knowing the tube lengths, it's hard to tell. If you're going to go that route, I'd rather swap the whole front end. And there's issues with that too. Just not something for some novice biker.
We have a 38mm tube and they're kinda long cause of the fork angle.
I do have some spares, but they're not in the best of shape.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you just want stock replacements, there are plenty of LS650's being parted out. Look at places like ebay or craigslist. If it is just the tubes that were damaged you can get replacement tubes from Frank's and a couple others.
If you want to swap a different front end, the 750/800 Intruder will swap if you get the wheel, trees, and forks as a complete assembly. Going that route gives you larger diameter fork tubes as a bonus. A few guys here have swapped other front ends onto theirs but those required some modification. Maybe they will chime in with what they used and what had to be modified.

Any year Savage can be used as a donor for a fork swap.
