I forget how big phones are.

The Tracfone number ported just fine and service started immediately.

The wifi service is good and I will test the jumping capabilities this week.  They use T-mobile service where my property in CO is for cellular backup.

The phone itself works fine, Motorola has always been good for me, and as far as I am concerned a trip over to Tracfone to get a cheap flip-phone (they have 2 available) is worth the step to get a $350 phone for $50.  Then sell the flip-phone for $30 to someone that needs a small pocket phone or a local drug dealer.

So you are using trac phone as your service?   I thought you had to use Fi service or you weren't eligible fore the special $49 price?

You know Fi will let you pick a new number for free while you are signing up ...... you don't need to go buy a track phone just to get a number.

Fi actually lets you choose the number itself (within reason, they offer you choices that are open in your areal code).   I generally pick a caliber designations as the main part of the number as they are easily remembered.

I am currently getting 3-4 days between charges on my MotoG Power, which is so much nicer than struggling to make it through the day as I was doing on the old phone.

I have to port a number to get the $200 off per phone.

"Get a $200 phone discount with the purchase and activation of a Moto G Power (2020) phone from fi.google.com. New Fi customers must transfer (port-in) your number to Fi from your current carrier to be eligible."

More blah blah blah an then:

"If you choose to get a new number, you will not receive the $200 discount."

So goodbye Tracfone so I can test out Google Fi.

I just retired and the company always provided me with a cell phone.
I opted to buy out the contract for the phone when I left.
That was a dumb idea. I find out later I could have gotten a smart phone for half the price of this used one. Plus unlimited data is expensive man.
Guess maybe I'm spoiled after having my service provided for me free all these years.
I was going to opt out of Getting a phone. The wife would have none of it. So I had to pay the piper.
Next time I'll approach buying a phone cautiously  :- Embarrassed

So my assessment so far, given where I live, is that Google Fi is most likely not a good service in my area.

There are very few public wi-fi connections so I would have to get passwords and input them manually as I move across town if I want to save on data.  Once it connects once some networks will auto-connect, some will not.  It is much easier to just remain on data, and it is very slow in my area.

If I am at home or the shop the wi-fi connection works fine although the phone will not connect into cameras on the network or control drones.  This is most likely a Motorola issue however.  If I am in town my calls are sometimes clear, if I am at home I have to go outside to get a call that isn't full of drop-offs.  At the shop it is unusable, there is no service at all.

The phone allows you to set a data usage warning and even stop at a certain point, and there is a $60 cap if you just go crazy with data usage.

Overall I'd say from a "plan" standpoint it is a good.  Simple terms, and you have a decent amount of control, no contracts etc.  I will be travelling with it and see how it goes.

I consider my phone uses to be very pedestrian.   I am at home most times and Fi runs just dandy off my own router.   An exotic remote use for me is sitting n the Walmart parking lot waiting for the wife to finish her wally wandering (I won't walk around that huge store for just picking up a few misc little items like she does).  My superwally pumps wifi out into the parking lot for the car sitters like me and Fi works fine at everyplace I ever used it at.

The Fi phone works fine for this sort of pedestrian uses.

If the wifi signal isn't good, I just upswipe the home screen and temporarily turn on cell tower use -- that always works for me.

Give you an example of Google Fi wifi "remembering stuff endlessly" I automatically logged on to Kickstand Lodge's owners in house wifi when I was there last (camp wide wifi was down due to equipment crappng out on them) --- that impressed the owner woman because she hadn't given out that information in years.
