I have an old Fire 7 that I only use for reading Kindle books but it's battery doesn't last as long as it once did. After reading your comments I decided to buy a new 8 inch Fire tablet and it was on sale for $54 this past weekend.
I am not worried about any of the shortcomings that people talk about because I don't expect it to do anything more than download books to read and they do that very well.

It's taken almost two days to get back to twenty percent charge..
I give..

I like the Kindle, because I go to sleep with a radio show going, it hides the tinnitus, some,,
Not Sure I want a kindle, if something just a little bigger is available, as long as it's thin, so I can slip it under my head,, with the sound very low,

There will likely be a New Year's Sale of some sort put on by AMAZON since nobody buys Fire anything unless it is on sale.

So, Fire Tablet this and that goes on sale fairly frequently ......
