Quick Disconnect Seat Pins or Alternative?
09/09/20 at 09:20:23

I saw somewhere that people were selling quick disconnect seat pins, which makes a ton of sense to me. But they had been discontinued. I can't find the page. Does anyone know why they were discontinued by whoever was selling them? I'd assume it's a safety issue, but wondered if there were any other solutions.

Try New Bonneville.com. They have Triumph seat disconnect screws that I use on my Savage. They work very well.

Something like these: https://newbonneville.com/shop/tool-free-side-cover-bolts/

Also found these: https://newbonneville.com/shop/tool-free-seat-bolts/

I think the S40 are M6 x 1.0 thread. Would a triumph use that thread? It's not listed in the specs.

Found a Triumph Rat forum that says
"6mm x 1.5 inch (or I guess that would be 6mm x 35mm)"

Thanks, yea. I think 6mm is the outside thread diameter - M6

1.5" or 35mm is the length of the threads

M6 x 1.0 means 6mm outside diameter, 1.0mm per thread twist which is standard for M6.

So the triumph would be M6 x 1.0 x 35mm and should work.

All the triumphs I can find though have stupid long heads and are $30/pair shipped. I'm not spending $60 on these.

I'll update once I figure out a good solution.

Edit: new Bonneville link above is $42 shipped for me

When my fuse blew last week, it took less than 1 minute to get the seat off because I earlier used the M6x30 socket head cap screws to secure it. Pack a set of Allen keys with you!
Cheers!  Cool

Yea I did the M6 hex, but added a washer and lock washer to keep it from vibrating loose. I keep dropping them and the allen wrenches doesn't fit well behind the rear seat back/rack.
