My tank is from a GT185 (1973 IIRCC) and it is listed as 2.64 US gallons. I normally hit reserve around 100-110 miles and takes about 2.2 gallons to top off depending on how long I ride it past reserve and how long I'm willing to wait for the air to escape while topping it off. I usually get every last drop I can in there but I am a bit OCD so I have to round it off to the nearest $0.05.

I do think it's the perfect size for the bike and I was able to leave the stock decompression solenoid in place. It rocks the tank a little when I fire it up, but it's still there.
