Take this for what it is worth. First, I thought I had an old switch, as I wore one out. I don't. Modifying the switch would be my preferred method.
Wires on the back of the switch are: (Same on ALL years as far as I can tell) Red - goes to battery Orange - connects to Red when switch is ON
Brown - goes to tail light (& license plate light on some years) Gray - goes all over the place. This is a power source after running through other things.
ON- connects Red/Orange and Gray/Brown (this what powers the tail light in the on position)
PARK - connects Red/Brown - the culprit
Disconnect switch. At the molex connector for the switch, cut the brown wire, hook it up to the Orange wire.
I think that will work.
