If it were me I'd go in and modify the switch. Not too difficult. I have thought about doing it but am too lazy. Smiley

Yeah I am ok with doing something like that. Guess I will have to open it up and take a look.

Take this for what it is worth.
First, I thought I had an old switch, as I wore one out.  I don't.  Modifying the switch would be my preferred method.

Wires on the back of the switch are: (Same on ALL years as far as I can tell)
Red - goes to battery
Orange - connects to Red when switch is ON

Brown - goes to tail light (& license plate light on some years)
Gray - goes all over the place.  This is a power source after running through other things.

ON- connects Red/Orange and Gray/Brown (this what powers the tail light in the on position)

PARK - connects Red/Brown - the culprit

Disconnect switch.  At the molex connector for the switch, cut the brown wire, hook it up to the Orange wire.

I think that will work.

The back of the molex has TWO Brown wires.
When you open the switch, you will see that one mounts next to the red wire and the other mounts next to the gray wire.  Cut the one that mounts next to the red wire.

The one on the top in the foto.

Ok, so clipping that wire doesn't affect anything when in the on position right? Just the park position correct?  Thanks so much for the pics too.

Correct.  When in the ON position, bottom brown hooks to gray.

Tacopimp,

youzguyz has it. The TWO brown wires are not shown in Clymers or Suzuki's  manuals, just one wire. Makes all the difference.

I like that modification: prior owner had to replace battery after leaving switch in the 'parked' position

I've gotten in the habit of glancing at the tail light to ensure it is extinguished when I shut off the ignition.  (lefty off)
