RYCA muffler question
02/25/20 at 11:24:19

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to find a new muffler for my bike and I had a question about the RYCA muffle.

What is needed in order to make the RYCA work with a stock Savage? Do I need any adapters?

Both the long and short mufflers are slip on mufflers. The kit comes with an adapter bracket.

If you are running stock jetting, you will need to rejet after installation.

So if I am purchasing the muffler used, I’ll need to find a kit in order to make it work? And if I am unable to find a kit do I have any other options?

You can jet these without a "kit" Just need the right sizes of mains pilots and washers for the needle.
Cool.

Sorry, I was actually talking about the kit for the muffler, I’m actually looking at the same post you looked at back in January about the guy selling his RYCA parts.

Those RYCA mufflers are all over the place...because they aren't "made" by RYCA, they are sold by RYCA. A quick check on ebay and you can find the pipe adapter. It's a universal part.

Thanks Gary, so I will still need the pipe adapter no matter what I am trying to do?

Also is there a jet kit that I should get? I’m not really too familiar with carburetors and I’m still learning, I’d rather just have the whole kit than buying the wrong jet and having to wait to buy more.

TheB,
On my Savage, using a stock header and Ryca muffler (the quiet one), I had to use the offset adapter to make things happy. I am running rear sets, not the stock controls.

In theory, theory and reality are the same. In reality, they aren't...

I have Jetsets for the stock CV carb that enables tuning for stock and most modified engines.
The set contains:
#50, 52.5 & 55 pilot jet
150, 152.5 & 155 main jets
3 washers to replace the white plastic spacer on the needle
Bowl gasket
$30 postage paid within the US

If interested you can PM or email me.

The JETSET is $30 incl. shp. within the US.
You can PayPal or I can send you an invoice to your email for PayPal/credit/debit use.

A muffler with 1.75” ID opening can be mounted to the stock header by using aluminum cut from a coke can.  Cut the ends off and then use the flat sheet to wrap around the header as a metal gasket, if you have a good strong muffler clamp.  It crushes well and forms a pretty effective seal.
