Cool tank find !

At Vancouver bike show, discovered that the tank on the Continental 650 GT has the cool shape of a '60s cafe racer. On Ebay, paint $380, chrome $480 . Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so;

Need to figure if it will fit with mods/tap.
Cheers!
ps; spoke with the RE Canada rep who said he was surprised that the spares list for these bikes show prices 1/2 that of similar parts for Jap bikes.
pps; list price for Kaw W800 starts at $11000. ridiculous!

Those things are incredibly reliable.
No cam chain, valves adjust with the disks,
Change oil
Add fuel
Keep air in the tires
Aaaaand
Piddle with the chain.

Great idea. Those tanks do look promising. They have a large tunnel and direct feeds from the tank that you can send to a separate petcock mounted on the frame.
The prices are reasonable for a fully painted tank, but a bit much when you don't know if it will work. Who's going to be the first to try?????

I'm wondering just how much easier or harder it might be to get a tank modified to fit if the cups were removed and put in a different spot.
A careful grinding of the spotwelds and some brazing to get them to line up with the stems and rubbers on the frame might be easier.

Thanks for showing the underside of the tank, I hadn't seen that shot before. If you want a different look, the Interceptor 650 (INT 650 in the USA) has a different tank shape, but the frame is identical between the INT and the Continental. It has a quasi-Triumph profile, if anyone is interested.

Not a bad looking tank, Might be easier then trying to find a Benelli riverside 250 tank that I have wanted for my ryca project. I have been looking for a loooong time.
