Because I can pick up a s/s dr exhaust fo £49 and it would cost over £250 to have one made.

Or if the dr exhausts fits the Savage, which is what I am trying to ascertain!
This is an exhaust I have had previously made. It was, as I said around £250. It would be nice to save a bit of money where possible as I cusomise this next one.

Actually Lancer, can you remember what year the exhaust was from, as they changed the design in 1996.
Mark

It was from the early model, not the ‘96 +

Probably worth every penny too.  But why not save $200 if you can.  I get it.

Very nice build. Is that a Yamaha tank on there?  Looks like it could be off of a xs400.  I like the way you "countered" the tank line with the seat line.  The "norm" is to go for a straight line.  Looks like you made really good lemonade with a lemon.  Nice.

Instead of cobbling together an exhaust that was not designed to fit the bike, why not take the OEM flange and have a custom exhaust mandrill bent just as you want it? What are you looking from an alternative exhaust that you aren’t getting from the OEM pipe?

Absolutely, I’ve had several done exactly like that.

Or if you can't find a shop that can bend the pipe for you, something like this is the next option.
<https://www.amazon.com/Vibrant-VIB2601-Stainless-Mandrel-Tubing/dp/B001804SMC...;

That one piece has every bend that you need for about any exhaust design. Cut and weld to whatever your needs are and weld on the flange.

Ohiomoto. It is a Yam tank, SR400. I had to modify the tunnel a bit and move the front frame mounts for the tank, but nothing too serious.

Looks great! What was involved in modifying the tunnel? Persuading with a big hammer? Welding in a new tunnel? Details, please! I love the way this tank looks.

Edub, Yes, a big hammer and a blow torch!
Also, it needed a new fuel tap, and as I already had an Triumph tap sitting around, I made a plate to fit that and mount onto the tank (as the screw hols are all wrong for the tap).
AS the tank is from an oil-in-frame (which is what was needed to hide the electronics), it left a larg gap at the front of the tank when mounted. I kne I didn't want the speedo mounted on the top yoke, so I made a bracket out of aluminium and leather to match the seat. This was attached to three strips of steel welded into the tunnel of the tank.
If you are interested, the switches fitted into the riser holes are from my first car, a 1953 Austin A35!
