Srinath's Cheater chopper project
12/09/19 at 12:16:33
This was done sometime in 08-09. And rear ended a week after it was done, sold a week later and well, pics and ideas are all that was left.
Can I link it to a photobucket album ? How to do that ?
Cool.
Srinath.

To make a cheater chopper - without a seeger kit.
I made 3 parts, one of which was just a piece of scrap I modded.
I bought 1 part from junkyard - complete front end off a 1989 Kawasaki KX125.
I also bought a long bolt like an axle bolt.
This 3 was what was made - Used the savage stem in that lower triple.
9 degree rake, and I figured a 12 degree would have worked better, no loss in ground clearance, no worse handling and a few more inches of wheel base. Next run is a 12 if my machinist will do it now.
Weirdly, its easier in a high quality drill press, not a mill. What you need is a high quality hole saw. A mill - well you need a hollow mill od 1.5" depth, which really doesn't exist, and its not easier to control than the drill and holesaw.
Cool.

The bobbed back end. Only part I had to buy here was that limp thingy taillight. The stock rear fender spot welds were shallow drilled, the braces removed, the sissy bar etc gone, the regulator/rectifier was put in the airbox. Stock seat was upholstered with a little "skirt" to cover up the visibility into the electrics under the seat, they were all in the stock location except the R/R. I ran side covers and battery cover. Literally its a 1 part bobber. The stock R.R holes are perfect for the limp thingy tail light mounting bolts.
Cool.

I cant find a single pic with the tail light.
Oh yea, I bought harley risers, I could have drilled em for s40 risers, but that was when the s40 just came out and those things were $$$. The HD ones I think I had em lying around from when my previous neighbor gave me a bunch of HD stuff.
Cool.

Look at the angle between the neck and the triple.
Cool.

Riders POV. Harley riser. I made those drag bars for another savage and decided to make a few more.
Cool.

The flipped fork leg. Looked goofy, but handled amazing with light light effort. Made the savage positively feel like an overloaded wheelbarrow at all speeds.
Cool.

The safety bolt - god knows why I put it, I doubt it would ever come apart.
Cool.

This appears to be the only pic I have of it complete.
I think it was after it was crashed but could have been before.
Cool.
