However CPS or COPS or whatever will just check some criminal isn't adopting the baby and the baby goes to a - hopefully loving family. However I hear a lot of horrifying stories about babies being "returned" by adoptive parents. Now adoption requests outnumber the available babies by a few 100 fold. If they "return" baby, they're done - forever, and next in line comes up.
