Belt size and tooth form.

I want to make some changes to my savage and it needs a longer belt.
I have Clymer 1986- 1988. My bike is from 1994 and has a 4speed engine.

The Clymer drive belt specification’s are: Bando 133h-14M 40.0
14 M stands for a round shape of the teeth on the belt.

I can buy a 140 -14M-40.0 and many other lengths are available here. ($75,-)
But the problem is the teeth on my current (original) belt and poelie,s are trapezium in shape. Usually indicated with 14T

Is Clymer wrong? Or have different drive belts been used over the years?  Ore can or both tooth 14M &14T shapes be used?
Can someone enlighten me?

Do what you know is right. (you can always use fear as a counselor later)
