Gasoline Leak from Top of Engine
08/07/19 at 18:20:14

So I bought the bike a few weeks ago and have been working on it since. I just got it to be ride-able recently. I found that after it warms up and does a few miles gas is coming from the top. I cant tell exactly where its coming from because it evaporates too quickly.

The bike is a 2001 with 2800 miles on it and sat for at least two years before I got my hands on it. It also has not been state inspected since 2005, so I really don't know how long its been sitting.

If anyone has any experience with this kinda issue any help would be greatly appreciated.

gas doesn't leak from the top of the engine, has to be coming from the tank unless you have a stock petcock and all the gas has leaked into the crankcase and is being spit out the breather.

check the oil fill window, if it's black you need to drain it.

Your float needle is probably stuck.  The overflow tubes are tucked up into the frame.
