My helmet lock stopped working, any tips?
07/31/19 at 15:56:54

My helmet lock stopped working with the ignition key and now my helmet is stuck on there.  I tried squeezing a little WD-40 into the key hole to loosen it up but that didn't help. Next up I may have to take a hammer to it or drill it out.

Do you have more than one key? If so try the other one.

I just looked at mine but can't come up with anything. Good luck.

Had a look at mine It is held on with a philips head machine screw into a tapped hole in the bracket which is then locked with a nut
from the back.
You could try taking off the locknut and attempting to undo the screw using
what is hanging out the back with vice grips or similar
If that fails you may be able to drill off the philips head by angling a drill down and then angling up from the bottom Fortunately there is only one screw there
You may be better to unbolt  the whole bar off the guard and drill out the screw from the back

Try using graphite.
Work the key in and out
Till you're sick of it.

If all else fails
A firearm lock with a flexible loop will go around the handlebars and through a helmet loop

I have saddle bags and can't get to the helmet lock..
Which I never liked anyway
The helmet hangs just begging for someone to dump something in.

I have no immediate solution, but I recently bought a lock pick set to teach myself how to do it so I can go out and find me a new bike (JUST KIDDING) and I have only played with it a couple of times and picking locks is surprisingly easy.

Maybe drive down to a locksmith...but take proof of ownership/title.

These locks are pretty simple.
You might need to take the load off the lock (lift helmet) and wiggle the key.
