Stalling out question
06/21/19 at 17:06:10

So I've got a 2005 Boulevard S40 that stalls on the highway after a mile or so. That sucks. I put it in PRI, however, and it keeps going. Runs right as rain in PRI on the freeway but stalls in the "on" position. I've cleaned it out with Redline and it purrs like a cat all over town, but the highway speeds make her stall. I'm assuming the petcock is bad here, so I've ordered a new one--or the vacuum in it or the hoses. I'm replacing the whole works. What do you all think--doing the right thing?

I ordered all OEM parts from my local dealer. Said it will be a week before they get in.

OEM Suz petcock is vacuum operated and has failure history.
Genuine Yam Raptor petcock is manual and doesn't fail.  This should be the first item you change after buying the bike.  Cool
ps: be sure to plug the vacuum port in the carb after changing!

Correct, but if you ordered a new OEM unit it should solve your problems until it fails again.  We just prefer using the raptor model because it is not vacuum operated and it won't fail.

Yup direct swap, cheaper, longer lasting by far and smaller in size so removing the tank will be easier.
