Can someone link to a good tutorial on how to rebuild the forks using the PVC pipe and threaded rod?
The tech section lost it's pics due to photo bucket.

I rebuilt mine last spring ,rather than a threaded rod ,I found it easier to buy and use two replacement broom handles ($2.00 at the dollar store) , the ends shaved into a wedge shape can be lightly driven into the top of the damper rod ,with no chance of damage, after the fork tube has been removed , held from turning (I used a small pipe wrench) to remove/replace the oil lock piece and the bottom Allen bolt.

I've got two sets, so started on the parts ones. The shafts are pitted a bit, like speckled rust. I ran them on the wire wheel and I can feel the pits with my hand.  Will they work like that?
On a plus note, I wired off the chrome plate on the lowers, ready for bedliner.
Got the fenders and rear light brackets sprayed today.
Also got my learner's permit toadsy.
Last bike I had in the late eighties was a 450 gs, I rode it two years on an expired permit, once from Saratoga-ish, NY, to Fort Devon's, Mass.

If the pitting is in way of the seals ,I wouldn't use them,
