Not often, mine are original as well, 40k miles, but throttle cable is starting to fray at the moment and figured on a long trip having an emergency kit could be a life saver

The emergency seems kinda' cool, but isn't really needed if you replace the original. I might carry one if I were doing one of those 'round the world adventures.

Maybe, I wasn't clear. The emergency one would be a back up only. I'm planning on replacing the throttle cable hence asking about the first link. I'm planning on ordering the suzuki one, but stumbled across this generic one and wanted to see if yall thought it might work. And as far as the emergency one was just looking for advice on if yall have experience with any particular kit and knowledge if the tips would work

If the kit would work ,would depend on the size of the ends and cables supplied ,I saw several in the kit ,but no sizes listed.????
I find that for small cheaper parts like this it may be better to buy local rather than hope to receive the correct part on line. The little extra you might pay ,keeps your face a familiar one at a local parts place/dealer, and can go a long way toward receiving better service and sometimes lower prices as you become a repeat customer.(their bread and butter).

The cable you are looking at is not the correct one, it is for a 150.
Look at the end that attaches to the throttle and compare that to the one on your bike, they are different. The same with the carb end...different.
You need a stock cable or one made for your your bike, model and model year. Suzuki used 3 different types of attachment for the LS650’s throttle cable. Yours has a slight Z shape to the metal tab that screws into the throttle housing.

A new custom cable from Barnett for your bike is $70.
A stock cable may be less, especially on eBay.

Clutch cables are dosed with much more stress and fail more often. If your throttle cable is messed up, check the routing and how it sits on the carburetor.
Replace it and be careful about it.
Then you should be good to go for a long time.

Clutch cable failures are usually found in the lever on the handlebars. If the slug that sits in the pocket under the lever is not situated correctly it will force the cable to bend when the lever is pulled, causing a break over time.

I'm gonna get a new cable and try to improve the design
