PBR  Lives On

PBR , Pabst Blue Ribbon beer will continue to be brewed. After some wrangling in the courts Miller Brewing Company has agreed to continue  to Brew PBR. Some months of rumors that PBR was going away because 2 brewing companies were no longer going to brew one of Americas best beers. However , I bet the price goes up !

I know Stewy and his father will be happy. Good news is always welcome !

I'm fairly sure that I haven't had a PBR since 1978. My tastes have improved since I was 15 so I don't see me drinking PBR (I'm a fancy man and I require fancy beer Smiley). But much like when they brought back Twinkies...now that it's in the news I'm gonna have to give it a go.

I hope a swing of PBR is more enjoyable than when I was reintroduced to Twinkies...

So where is Hamms beer today ?

Sadly, it died a slow death years back, but you can still look up the TV commercials with the Bear singing the Hamms song !

Gary , There was never any interruption with PBR it's the same old drinking mans beer. Same as it was 50 years ago. I'm more traditional, don't care too much for fruit flavored craft beers, just give me a Samuel Adams or a PBR !

Lancer , I remember the Hamms brewery in San Francisco off Hwy 101 with a 2 story high glass of beer on the roof and the steam from brewing beer came out the top of that glass. A vivid memory for sure , sadly I haven't seen a can of Hamms in Decades.

Man, that thing had lots of flavor.

When I was on the cheap, going for a buzz, tho it was hard to get much of a good one on it, was Lucky Larger, the twist off caps with puzzles under them   Grin

You can still buy Hamm's: https://shop.hamms.com/locator . In fact, I saw a Hamm's truck doing deliveries on my way home from work earlier this week.

Whew!!!!!

I actually had an "Import" PBR this week. Was in Montreal, Quebec on business and had a beer with my burger.  Funny when the cheap-o beer you drink back home is on the import list, but hey, I'm impressed they had it!  Thought the English/French can was cool so I brought it home for a souvenir for pops.

I'm a Miller Lite guy myself, but I've tested this a few times, and I can say with confidence, that really cold PBR tastes just like really cold Miller Lite!

Ha ha. Funny. I've had it. Lacks any serious flavor. Tastes pretty much like the rest of the big brewery beers.

My every day drinker is Rusty Chain. It's a local made beer. But I do enjoy trying other things. Not a fan of the fruit beers. But there are a lot of other choices out there.

PBR used to make Brown Derby for Safeway if I remember right.  That one died about the same time as Hamms.
