Not Making It Any Better
10/25/18 at 14:45:32

My oh my...

What a "great" leader:

At a Wisconsin rally on Wednesday night Trump, who has denounced news media organizations as an "enemy of the people," called attention to "how nice I’m behaving tonight” but on Thursday morning he attacked the media.

"A very big part of the Anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media that I refer to as Fake News," Trump wrote. "It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description. Mainstream Media must clean up its act, FAST!"

Reuters•October 25, 2018

The man is just too stupid to keep his mouth shut and/or say anything that might actually help the situation.

He's not exactly wrong, mainstream media is not in the business of just presenting news to the public, there's a lot of money involved.

Obama was rather articulate, in most cases, and didn't typically insult other people but just like every other president each word was analyzed and people would search out insult.

Its like the girlfriend that won't take a compliment, you say her hair looks nice and she wants to know why it wasn't nice before.

If you want Trump to be an idiot there's pretty much nothing he can say or do to change that.

I know the type, and we seem to have a president that is just as thinned-skinned.

I just want a president who knows how to be a statesman in cases like this - and I want to see the same scrutiny across the board.  You see, this is not actually a partisan issue.  This is an act of terrorism - and this man has no clue how to bring a country together.

Honestly, it's almost like he doesn't care to.  If all he did was say nothing, he'd be so much better off.  He can't help himself.  He continues to show us every day that he is so severely unfit for the office.

And before you might say it Eegore - the reason I keep hammering on this issue is that we can't, as a country, let this type of behaviour become normal.  If this were a democrat, you know that it would not be tolerated and a republican congress would have him or her run out on a rail by now.

The mainstream media has long ago abdicated their responsibility for unbiased journalism.

They began putting the blue jersey of the Democratic party. As the business of presenting the news grew into a money-making venture, that created competition. There is a story told I think about CBS news in which a wise accountant told the CBS CEO; “I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is the news division turned a profit for the first time. The bad news is the news division turned a profit for the first time.”

That situation caused another group to put on the red jersey of the Republican party. This is what created Rush Limbaugh and subsequently the popularity of Fox News which, I just read, has been the number one cable news station 41 weeks in a row. I believe I’ve heard they out draw CNN and MSNBC combined. How important that is, who knows.

So now we have a situation where one side gets news from its group and the other side from its group. As I said yesterday listening to CNN in an airport, it’s indistinguishable from a TT or Sew anti-Trump rant. I suspect they would say listening to Fox is indistinguishable from listening to me.

another side effect of uncontrolled capitalism....

Yes, no laws against capitalizing on the need of others.
However, how do you fix that without trampling on a persons freedom to be "needy"?
A absolute nanny state, that provides and decides everything for everyone?

This type of reasoning it what is directly rooted in the foundation of separations of powers, and separation of religion and state.....
Not a man, entity, or system of governance possess the absolute honest integrity it would need to make it a successful way to govern.....none.
Prove me wrong, try.
I wish it wasn't so.
How awesome would it be IF everyone was indeed, his brothers keeper.
Will you start it?

maybe we could start there... there are price gouging laws... and it could simply be like a stamp of approval, like USDA Prime steak, or movie ratings....

This type of reasoning it what is directly rooted in the foundation of separations of powers, and separation of religion and state.....

I totally don't follow that at all... I'm not disagreeing, but whatever you are saying isn't being communicated clearly to me,

what kind of reasoning????

the foundation of separations of powers and separation of religion and state is an attempt at secular fairness, that no one ideology be granted total control

That's fair, nothing is perfect, but when we complain about it, that's our way of trying to improve it, not "anti-America"

how do you know I haven't started it?
why do you think I'm here constantly correcting the craziness espoused here as grand insight, and why am I here championing humane treatment of humans, urging compassion and empathy... etc...

I agree goverment can play a role, and it does NOT have to be called socialism...
However, when those laws are not enforced/work, we need to not make more laws, but try and determine why the laws are not having the desired effect we had hoped for.
I will use murder, and gun laws, as a current example.

Exactly, however, if you turn off the light in the room, to not expose a certain element/activity, etc, believing it might unjustly shine/expose something under its influence, you have by default, promoted one, over the other, by that very action....
I know its extremely convoluted, sorry, but in effect, promoting a NON belief of something, over a belief of something, is in fact, promoting one over the other....

I agree in principal, and I feel the founders also did NOT want to promote religion by state sanctioning, but to keep it in perfect context, they also said the state can make NO LAWS prohibiting the freedom of expression, as well.....
This is where its up to us, to exhibit and extend, tolerance, freely, without expectations, solely because its the only viable and sustainable way to achieve any such harmony.
Example: You can make laws against discrimination, but you can't change a persons heart.
These laws usually just inflame their hate and anger more.

I believe that really goes without saying....either way.
Nothing wrong with being passionate and feeling strongly about any given subject, matter, or belief....
I feel what we have forgotten in our lessons, and what "sports" use to teach us, first and foremost, when I was just a tadpole....
You were a GOOD SPORT first, before a winner.
You gave your best, you accepted your losses with dignity, and you accepted your wins with humility.
Either way, at the end of the game, you lined the base pad, and shook your opponents hands graciously.....
Then went and tossed rocks at the girls playing softball  Grin

That is why I come too....
I hope I can "turn on that light" to reveal its ALL OF US IN THIS BOAT TOGETHER.....
And it will sink in the storm if we all don't pull together to help keep her afloat....
NO MATTER WHO is presently at the helm.....
Bitching about who missed the weather forecast will not serve to keep the boat afloat.

Hey, now that would be a GREAT subject to draw/paint!  Wink
