97 savage with 14k miles! What’s up y’all!

Hey guys, mechanically I'm pretty savvy, been working on cars for a while, built a trail 70 from the ground up. I'm really not to nervous about tearing into an engine so long as I know torque specs and that I don't need any special tools. That being said I picked up a Suzuki Savage for a grand. Bike runs great, it has 14k miles on it I'm trying to put together a list of "to do's" in order of most important to least important just to make sure it's road worthy. It leaks oil all over the darn place, I understand it's a common problem with these bikes. Here's what I got so far.

To Do's

fix the oil leak

look at chain tensioner and consider replacing

spark plug

oil and filter

brakes front and rear

tires

check and possibly replace drive belt

"CLIFF NOTES"

Im sure you’re all familiar with the Savage oil leak issue? Do I have to pull the engine? How much of the engine do I have to tare down? If I'm pulling the engine is it worth buying a full gasket kit and replacing everything? At 14k miles should I replace the chain tensioner and chain?

Goal is to just get it in tip top darn reliable shape and then consider doing something about the aesthetics.

Thanks for any input, I used a forum like this when I had my crx and it was incredible.

fix the oil leak - Which one?

look at chain tensioner and consider replacing  - Looking at is a good idea, remember it's the chain, not the tensioner.

spark plug - cheap, replace

oil and filter - always

brakes front and rear - stock squeak, prefer kevlar or organic

tires - check the date code.

check and possibly replace drive belt  - it's polymer, not rubber.  lasts a long time.

If I'm pulling the engine is it worth buying a full gasket kit and replacing everything? At 14k miles should I replace the chain tensioner and chain? - for the head plug? no. for the head gasket? yes. for various o-rings? no.
