Eliminating bar wiring: questions?
05/05/18 at 12:13:38

I’m eliminating the bar switches and adding a push button on the stem. As for the headlight, I’m just running a toggle on top of the light itself.

I want to basically turn the key on, push button start, then to kill the engine, just turn the key back off.

Which of these wires do I need to jump/eliminate/toggle? The clymer manual isn’t a lot of help.

Solder the orange/white to the orange/black and your key will be your kill switch.

You can also connect the two yellow/green wires from the clutch lever if you don't want to pull your clutch in to start it. If you do this, get in the habit of making sure that your bike is in neutral before starting.

Clutch wires are already spliced, but the neutral safety switch is still wired up and the light works so at least I have one safety.

I can't be certain what year came from but it looks to be the same as yours.

Thanks! I’ve already figured out the brake wiring, that was easy. I’ll see what I can do with the rest!

I would put a second switch in your headlight (or perhaps on the frame under ,say ,the front of your gas tank) to use as a kill switch ,this stop your bike from being stolen if you left the key in the switch and give you a way to shut of the motor if your down and the key snapped off .(other than trying to pull a  battery cable on a running bike .) the kill switch isn't there for looks it's a safety devise , and maybe the only one you shouldn't bypass.
