I'll attach another pic here since craiglist will not host these pictures forever.  Don't want to lose this one.  There is some nice fabrication going on here.  But it looks like they didn't account for the belt drive when fabricating the rear end.  It's centered on the offset swingarm! It was "well enginered" though...or was it???

There was a company in Fla. that made trikes , and they produced one using a Savage . They found that it was not a great candidate , the 35 degree rake of the forks  forced the front tire to plow (skid) and the bike didn't want to turn , those fat tires on the rear don't help!( another dangerous mistake for sale ) Going straight into an intersection when you intend to turn could ruin your day. the fact that the tires have no wear and the bike has been parked four years leads me to believe it was to scary to ride .

I agree with you batman IF that is a solid axle it will push till the end of the earth.  Of course, shade tree engineer can get around that by putting one of the wheels on a freewheeling hub and that might work "ok".  I say "ok" because then you have one drive wheel which may cause a list ) probably not a big deal give the limited HP.  But if that's the case, you would only have braking on one wheel which would be more dangerous than the push caused by having a solid rear axle (which is my guess).

But it's "well engineered" so I'm sure all of that stuff is accounted for.

And when I say limited HP, I'm guessing it might be below average.  That exhaust pipe looks like it is a straight 2" muffler shop special.  But it does have that cool twintip at the back.

If their going to make my rearend that big,... I want some storage.
Should have put a trunk back there... Huh

I did test ride a Savage with one of those "add two wheels" kits.
The kind where you end up with three wheels in back...
...and like the Batman says,.. it plowed like crazy.
I only rode it around the parking area.... scared to go on the street.

The unsprung weight in that machine is what scares me. I might imagine it could exceed the competing sprung weight. Quite apart from the plowing, I wouldn't want to ride that bike on anything rougher than plate glass as even one of those tire/wheel combos hitting the slightest bump would take the rest of the bike along with it to wherever it wanted to go. And that's not gonna end well. Perhaps if you restrict yourself to first gear?

Nice rear disc brake, but where's the pedal ? (must have forgotten  to engineer that).

I thought trikes were a joke, until I met an old biker called Doc, at a cafe down the road. He told me the most amazing stories of riding in the 70's and 80's. He was in a 'buggy' because he had had a stroke. He was considering a 'trike conversion' on his old boulevard, because his balance was shot.

It changed my perspective on trikes completely!

Although, I still think the modern trike looks like a ride-on lawn mower!!
