First bike, New to me.
04/08/18 at 17:29:41

I bought a 1997 Suzuki Savage ls650, it has roughly 18k miles, i am curious to what all i should be looking into to make sure she stays running like a champ, im good with a wrench and would like a few pointers, she is bone stock. I have notice one thing that could possibly be a future issue, When i pull the throttle to fast is seem that the bike is bogging down or my clutch is slipping. any ideas? i plan on keeping this bike for a long time as it is my first 2wheeled way to freedom.

You're well into the mileage where the cam chain needs to be looked at.
A modified chain tensioner will keep it safe. If the tensioner comes apart before you get it right, it nearly always kills the motor.

I am a novice when it comes to working on a motorcycle, but im a fast learner when i have been pointed in the right direction, I tried to go to the market place to find that parts for the Cam Chain Adjuster and it directed me to the donate page everytime. i believe that everything is stock on the bike as well, i was curious as to what i should be looking into for maintenance (after i figure out the CCA) like the petcock or carb(Never worked on one in my life) Im a young sport 22yrs

You need tools
A maintenance manual

RTV isn't the best choice.
A bike shop sells what bike mechanics use.

Those Phillips screws Aren't
They are JIS and a Phillips will mess them up.

There is a link to an online manual out there somewhere..

To get to the "Market Place" which is not the donation page, click on the "topics" button on the left of "Market Place". That will open another menu, and the "Market Place" you want is the third choice from the top.
