Competition
03/28/18 at 12:12:31

They make steel
We make steel
They can ship it , distribute it and sell it for Much Less than our steel makers can.

Our factories are regulated so our environment doesn't kill us.
Theirs, notsomuch.

So, why not demand that Our competitors who want to import to us,
Operate under the same burdens?
Level the playing field
And
Protect the environment

Wouldn't that make sense better than tariffs?
That's a beginning idea for a trade deal.
Seems like every global warming believer would jump on the bandwagon.
It would certainly be better for the environment, and level the playing field for manufacturing.

Boycott bakers who don't wanna make your cake.

Boycott gun makers if you don't like guns.

Boycott SUV makers if you believe in GW.

Boycott a donutshop if they serve cops.

Boycott TT, if you think stupidity is transmittable.

I think the logistics of "demand" means we need to enforce.  I believe other countries environmental and labor practices would outweigh by far the trade benefits.  EP teams flown out to conduct inspections, an auditing system built for them to report into.  Re-funding the research teams that monitor the emissions by satellite, a restructuring of Customs into China to verify tool/instrument calibration.  That's if they even agree to let us start hauling in people and equipment to enforce their business practices.

Boycott means no more trade from China.  That's an astronomical impact on our economy, as well as the interconnected ones that rely on our end purchase to provide demand for their contribution.

I agree in total.
It was our desire to export captilsm to the world, much easier than fighting wars.
The global market is real, and trade boundaries impossible to impose.

Let’s look at how it works, marketing.
Marijuana use to be illegal, a controlled substance, against the law.
But through promotion and marketing, it is fast becoming a legal trade commodity.
Those who stand to profit off of it are winning the war of marketing.

That is capitalism 101.

Lots of money and energy went into trying to enforce the old rules.
That paid no dividends, only a liability and capital drain.

Such will be the wars waged on the global stage too.

He who with the best value product and demand, wins.

Be it pot, guns, or speedos....( almost summer, use SUNSCREEN)

Easy to outperform the competition when one of them is regulated to safeguard the environment and the other isn't.

 Agreed.

So if we demand that other countries meet our EPA standards how do we enforce it?

Or do we just shut off trade with most the outside world and try to deal with those consequences?  If we go that route how do we get people to vote it in?

Instead of countries signing empty agreements to calm the warmlarmists, let's see meetings and agreements like this.
Cooperation, try that.
Just like anything else, if the jury of your peers, I.E., the global community, sees YOU taking a dump on the World, while others are operating a clean system, you're gonna have to deal with that.

No Jog, if you believe in GW, you do NOT purchase any products that do NOT conform to green production, etc.

Al Gore should be flying commercial, not his own Polluting Gulfstream, etc...

You want to raise the poverty level
Around the world, make sure the product you buy provides a livable wage to the workers, etc...

Laws are not needed if folks would do their part, and that includes gun laws!

You need a new set of hand tools .
Your list is complete.
$300.00 for quality, Made in the USA
or $60.00 for cheep junk, sold at a mart-mart.

Seems the MAGA hat wearing people,
Spend the 300.00.  One Time in 20 years.
Where the, Unicorn believers,
spend 60.00, then spend 15.00 a year,
for the next 20 years, to buy again what broke.

And say to the 300.00 buyer:
‘You must be, ‘Bat $hit Crazy”

Seems the MAGA people buy the $300.00 tools?  AWhere did you pull that statistic from??  I'm thinking a dark place in the hiniezone??
I agree and always try to buy a good, if not the best, tool.

It would make an interesting study, but I suspect Amazon won't release their data.  Too bad, it would be illuminating Sears vs Harbor Freight??

The only folks we have a legal power over are our own, therefore the only thing we could force is our own businesses buy all/only American.  Of course they might not be "competitive" in the international market.
Or tariffs, where we force the Americans to pay more for a product of foreign manufacture or buy a  now more competitive US product.
