Well, I finally dumped my Savage...
03/03/18 at 13:05:27

Hit some loose gravel in turn, both wheels slid out, and I was down before I knew I had a problem.
Just scrapes and bruises and I bonked my knee pretty hard,.. but my precious bike!!!...
I broke one of my custom bicycle pedal footpegs,... got two small dents in my chrome tank... (breaks my heart)...
Twerked my bar risers,... my brake pedal is pretzel,... and a few other minor scuffs.

I did ride it 15 miles home... One foot on the clutch case and handlebars turned right to go straight.

Danggit!... I didn't ever want to have this baby go down.
Anyway,... got a brake pedal on order from e-bay...
Once my knee is healed up a bit, I'll get her back to roadworthy.
She'll just have a bit more character... Cool

Peace, ride safe

I'm sorry about the dump, thank God YOU are okay. The bike can be fixed. Gravel will do it every time, I avoid that stuff like the plague!  Roll Eyes

It must the windshields fault.
I know you would never dumped it if you could see the gravel.

hf sells a dent puller that may do the job, I pulled a couple little ones out.

Sorry you had an accident and damaged your bike.  Too bad about that wonderful gas tank.  The knee might start hurting more in a day or two.  Your experience sounds very familiar to me, I dumped mine the same way, sand and loose gravel on asphalt caused the front wheel to slide out in a right turn so quick I was down before I could react. Both the bike and I ended up on our right side but I somehow bashed my left knee.  Hope your knee is OK.

I think sand is prolly the worse trap that befalls us bike riders....
Unless you are driving on a road that has obvious drift problems, its easy to get complacent in good riding conditions.

I know my awareness is heightened, on rainy and snowy/icy days, that I ride, not stiff to where I over react, just more focused.

I remember reading a bike riding advice book when I first started riding, it said to be extra careful on roads that have no curbs....
Which is about all the roads I ride on, haha, as folks have a tendency to "cut the corners" and it brings sand/dirt up a few feet from the road edge....
Its a BIG problem here, and one I take into consideration always. I don't like riding toward the center on a blind turn, as jerks often coming the other way cheat into my lane, so you gotta be aware at all times the risk.... just saying.

Look on the bright side, you have a good excuse to work on your bike some more!  Grin

Sorry to here about your mishap.  Glad you're ok though.  I think your bike is one of the sharpest looking ones out there.  There are guys that can remove the dents without opening the tank depending how bad.  Dent Time is one.  You can send photos and they'll give you a quote

Sorry to hear about your spill. Glad to hear you're ok. One of the first things I noticed when I started riding is how quickly the bike gets heavy when it's centre of gravity is shifted!

At least you're in one piece, and the bike wasn't totalled. Was the gravel on top of black top, or concrete? Not that it makes much difference, yes I can tolerate a certain amount of gravel road, provided it hasn't just been graded, but fresh gravel chip over new blacktop, gives me the creeps.

We had a hard rain a few days ago,... it was mix of gravel and sand on asphalt.
(I was distracted by an abandoned van at the side of the road, and lost focus)... My bad.

My knee was awful yesterday, I almost went to urgent care, but it's a bit better today,..
...and I tend toward wussiness with pain... Grin

The tank dents aren't too bad, (I'll snap a couple of pics later when I can get out to the shop easier).
They'll add some vintage character to the chrome tank... Grin

Laying around is sooooo boring... Huh
Thanks for the well wishes... Cool

Glad you are ok, and sorry about the bike. With your skills I'm sure you will take the opportunity to make it even more unique.
