It's quite the story.
so are you for or against mandatory sentences, which, btw, is a conservative/republican standard. 3 strikes and you're out kind of mentality isn't a liberal/compassionate/understanding of individual situations kind of thing.
liberals often talk nuance while conservatives rail on big overreaching ideology

When it was being pushed,I bit. I've been thinking less of it in recent years. I understand how it gets repeat offenders off the street, but judges can do that without a statue demanding it, and leave a judge the latitude to Be a judge and sentence someone appropriately based on his take on Who the defendant is and what is that person going to do with the rest of their lives.

alright then, something we agree on. It's not the only thing either but you'd be freaking out if you knew how much this "lefty" agrees with you on basic things
