LS 650 seat modification
02/18/18 at 07:46:10

Hello, I am new to the forum as I just bought a LS 650 for my wife. 10k miles 2 helmets , 2 sets of saddle bags for $1000... so I am pretty happy.
The problem is now I want to ride it!

Any way, I was looking for some of the seat modifications to raise
the front seat.  For some reason I cant seem to find on the search. Perhaps
the answer is some aftermarket seat?

I am sure  you have been asked this a million times and I apologize
that i was not able to navigate well enough find it.

I did order the raptor pet thingy,  will soon order the versey chain tensioner,
and all the other maintenance mods recommened in the GREAT forum

Thank You

You seem to be headed in the right direction. The petcock will prevent a lot of known problems.

The people here have the knowledge to get you through anything you may come up against. As for the seat, with my stature it is not necessary but others have changed to after market seats and been happy with the results. Smiley

Welcome and good luck with your new purchase.

The simplest mod is to get longer bolts and put spacers between the frame and plate to raise the front of the seat by 1 or 1 1/2 '' .being we don't know your  or your lady's inseam measurement makes it hard to advise .There are people who have used Sportster seats or solo seats ,and you haven't made it clear that you will ride double ,or solo .Which do  you intend to do?

We would use this savage as a solo ride.  I was thinking about the spacers, but was wondering do I need to create some other spacers as part of the
seat base will no longer be on the frame?   Thank you for  your  thoughts !

Some do, some don't.  Thread here:  http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1109035237/0

I used the artificial corks that come in some wine bottles to lengthen the bumpers built-in to the bottom of the seat.

I cut an old rubber hammer head into quarters and used one quarter with a bit of shaveing as the new spacer for the front of the seat.  It gave me 1 and 1/2 " lift and maybe some vibration dampening.

Hmmm... pay $3 for a rubber mallet or pay $$$ for rubber stoppers?

Cool
