Tachometer.

I'm in line for a Christmas present.
I want a Tach. for my Zuki. Price is not an issue and I can fabricate any brackets etc. myself. It must be pretty and not look like a cheap piece of junk. Analogue is preferred.
What are the recommendations?

I got the mini tach from Ryca:
http://shop.rycamotors.com/universal_mini_tachometer_with_handlebar_clamp.html
Works well on the S40, and by no means is it ugly. I am sure there are "prettier" tachs for sale though.

^ What he said!
I had one on my bike for a while. Might even install it again once I'm finished with the new handlebar setup.
If you get one of these, just let me know if you want the instructions for installation. It's simple! I have some photos and instructions I made when I installed it. Happy to share them

I clicked that Ryca link. Now it's popping up on Facebook.

I got my tach a long time ago and it was free. It's not shiny, but I think it works great and it's not distracting in any way. Maybe not as good as it used to, but it still works well enough to know how hard I'm pushing the Savage.

That's what I use now! However, I've only been riding for a year, and my only previous experience was on 2T dirt bikes as a kid, and then a Ninga250 as my first bike. The Savage/S40 is a completely different beast, and it took me a while to get used to the low RPM and the torque. The feedback from the tach helped me heaps: that, and a bit of research on here about HP, redline, and torque. I get a lot more fun out of the bike and ride with a lot more confidence now. If I do install the tach again, it'll be mostly for aesthetic reasons

You guys are much more skilled than I am. Just by listening to the engine, I could not tell if the idling engine was at 900 rpm, 1000 rpm, or above, which is the main reason why I bought the tachometer. Right now I set the idle at 1200 rpm.
Another reason I fitted the tach is that I use it instead of the speedo to check my speed, as it is mounted on the handlebar and I don't have to look down to check.

I'd just do a google search for motorcycle tachometer, twin cylinder ones will work as our ignition is wasted spark. There is also a thread somewhere in tech tips

I decided to go with RYCA. I think supporting them is probably a good idea since they seem to be helping the savage with their efforts.
Also, I like the look of what they are selling and it is priced as well as others that are selling a lookalike product. Most of the tachometers are 13000 rpm models whereas RYCA"S is 8000. I think the Poor little savage would blow its top at 8k let alone 13k
Thanks for the replies.

If memory serves me right, the Savage will blow its top just before 7k
