Apparently not hurting their numbers.

Whaling in the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic is the slaughter of long-finned pilot whales when they swim near the islands, and has been practiced since about the time of the first Norse settlements on the islands. The whaling is mentioned in the Sheep Letter, a Faroese law from 1298, a supplement to the Norwegian Gulating law. It is regulated by th…

 McDonalds?  That's still meat.

That's just replacing whale slaughter with cow slaughter.  Ever been in one of those factories?

In either case the meat is sustainable.

Maybe convincing everyone there to go vegetarian would work.

No, but I get your point.....except, I do question IF its really meat  Grin

I live in a rural area.
Raising cattle is pretty popular.
I am a city boy.

One day I was traveling and came upon a box truck with a boom hanging off the back, lots of guys standing around, and some cattle herded up in a small area.
As naive as I was, I slowed to see what it was that was going on....
I saw a man walk up to a cattle with a stick in his hand.
He pressed it against the head of a cattle......
I saw a puff of smoke, and the cattle drop instantly.

It took a moment to gather my wits.

I was sick to my stomach.

I noticed the other cattle really reacting to the point of frenzy.....

They knew.

I got sicker.

I don't even like typing this.

However, just like Las Vegas, Texas, abortion, war, pimping, etc.....

I do not fixate on these things.

I can't.

Our minds will follow our thoughts, that is fact.

If I search the news to find articles to justify my hate, I am living under its influences, and hate is in me.....AND I HATE, HATE......!!!!

The story grabbed me.
The pictures sickening me.
Your point noted.

But I move move away from its grip, before it tries to snag my serenity....

Thanks.

If more people actually saw where their meat came from, there would be far more vegetarians. IMHO

I've seen local butchers who come to farms to butcher a cow or pig.  It changes your perspective for sure.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a meat eater, but most of the time I try and go out of my way to buy from an actual butcher, instead of a big chain grocery store.

I have the same practice, I buy meat locally.

I also agree that McDonalds may not be completely meat.  We were part of a double blind study that took multiple fast-food patties that were tested in two separate labs for overall content.

12% beef was the highest meat content on an overall content analysis.  We designed the format to keep knowledge of sample content being connected to its provider so theres no way to know who had that high 12% beef.

This is my profession, I'm in different food processing facilities almost daily.
I don't know the details of your test or how it was organized but if it was done the past few years, someone is lying to you because I promise those were not McDonalds burgers. I've physically seen them made with my own eyes. I've followed the entire channel from start to finish.

Web, why do they use fillers and extenders in meat, if for not deception of value?

I am in no way an expert, in the industry, but decades ago my folks were involved in a different franchise, which is still thriving today.
I read some of the business practices in making their product, and yes, it dealt with meat/beef.
It gave instructions as to how you added in oats, and other products to extend the meats usability, etc....
It was merely to increase profit, not a better product.

Has this mindset changed?

WOW!!12% Beef!! That's the Good One..
So, do you know what the other stuff was?
Before people start thinking it's being done to make extraordinary profits, consider how hard it is for the average person to get by.
Like using dyes and MSG , people are desperate to maintain their niche in the market. And profits can be slim. Food service industry is a low profit margin .
