 I thought The Day After was based off The China Syndrome and developed by one of the heads of ABC.  Not that it wasn't propaganda but it seems too well done for government media work in 1983.  

 I wasn't old enough to see it released so I have no idea how it was received.

Support and general direction isn't the same as doing the movie.
It was just more
Push
for the hyperventilating Warmlarmists to lean on.

I don't know How it was received. I watched it on T.V..

 I don't agree.  I think kids have changed, just like every single generation does, but anti-social?  Never leave the house?  We can't complain about how everyone looks at their cellphone all day and say we are becoming less-social at the same time.

 Its just a different way to connect.  And it will be called the downfall of society just like the automobile, radio, TV, and computer were.
