mixture screw?  carb filter?
06/18/17 at 17:43:03

2001 Savage stock carb.  What is the "stack" on the mixture screw?

rubber O-ring  (first into the hole),  small washer,  spring,   all on screw?

Also:  in the "diagram" underneath the float needle seat, there is something called "filter".  Really???? there is a filter under there?????

thanks

The filter is a screen under the seat . and yes o-ring ,washer ,spring needle valve. The washer protects the o-ring from the spring and spreads the spring pressure evenly.

Any Exploded Views NOT in a book or online that you are seeing aren't good.

Aren't you satisfied with the results you got in the thread you started?

This is the same forum...same bunch of people - you won't likely get a different answer in this thread. Wink

I think a mixture screw with a knob on it would be nice - it would allow you to set the mixture without finding your small screw driver.  Most carbs used to have a screw with a knurled head on it......but the EPA prefers you don't mess with that screw.  On some motorcycles I have worked on it is nearly impossible to get a screwdriver to the place where the mixture screw is located.....the screw on the Savage is easy to access.

Maybe we should try giving different answers to the same questions asked in different threads. I think that would be fun.
