Speedometer/Speedometer cable rattle

It's absolutely driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else experience this?
I've tried removing the cable at the bottom, placing foam between the tank and cable, slightly lifting the speedometer and installing foam there too.
[searched the forum BEFORE asking]
Any help is appreciated....I'm tired of the buzzing!

Yes....others have had the problem. You can find the common issues in the Tech Section - there is a table of contents with links.

There are three little springs under the speedometer housing. They wrap around the screws that mount the housing to the tank. I took the springs out and stretched them a bit with a couple of pairs of pliers then put them back in. That fixed the rattle for me. It's crude but was effective.
That rattle/squeak was driving me crazy also!
BTW, once the rattle is gone you'll probably be able to hear the speedometer cable whirring while you ride ... it's a much nicer sound

Thanks all!
it's definitely the spring wrapped cable vibrating on summthin'
Thought I had it licked with some high density foam, but it's back....Grrrrrr.
Once my petcock arrives, I'll just remove the tank and address both issues.

When you have the tank off you can jiggle the speedo housing - check if these springs squeak (it's a common problem). These are the one's I stretched. Good luck with it
