Is my oil pump broken?

Been trying to figure out why my bike makes weird intermittent tapping

Time to split the case and replace the oil pump?

I fixed it with a thin washer under the lock ring, pump seems to work but think I'll have to wash it thoroughly by pumping some oil through and then check my oil pressure.
Hope this will get rid of the noise. Think that sprocket was the other way around...

Oil flows to camshaft very well by cranking with the starter motor, so no need to replace the oil pump just because a lots of axial clearance.
Still no help to my engine noise

Miles, any mods, any maintenance done, when did it start, what makes it worse, better,
Details.

The sprocket should mostly align with the gear behind the clutch, less than half and one or the other is backwards and will disengage.
If adding a washer to that gear resolved the tapping, I would think that it's loose on the shaft and would replace it.
